Default Do i need to replace gear oil?

Hey guys,

I recently bought a Mazda 2 year 2015 and i dont think it ever got gear oil change.

Iv'e asked some people and some say i should never change the gear oil because it can hurt the gear but some says it will only be beneficial for the gear.

I would like to ask what are your recommendations for this subject? should i change it? or does the benefits are smaller the the potentials damages i can do to the gear?

Thanks

Yes.

Individuals or internet sources that state otherwise do not understand how fluids work and their relationship to preventative maintenance and what services should be done throughout the life of a vehicle.

Auto manufactures claim no service or lifetime which to them represents the Warranty period. They also are not going to pay for your repair or replacement of failed parts and systems after that period.

To better answer your last question, you need to post the miles and the last service performed on your Mazda.
You can also obtain a complete service history performed by Mazda by going to a Mazda dealership service department and requesting a VIN history.

Hey, thank you for your reply.

Regarding my milage - my car has about 105,000 km which are 65,000 miles.

unfortunately i dont think i have the option to get all the treatment history for my mazda in my region because i bought this mazda from another guy and he had it services in non-official mazda garages.

Ive read in some forums that changing the gear oil in the car might do more damage to it than benefits + (as you said) mazda do not say this should be replaces , this is why im not 100% sure i should do it.

But as you also said, this is something that i might need to do in order to maintain my car after the warranty period.

Thanks again

Changing the gear oil; in no way will do damage that is not already there. Now if you were referring to an automatic transmission then there is more to that answer and it is not as simple as changing the fluid will cause dame. But that's the internet if you have a question someone or somewhere has the answer even if it is bad or wrong. LOL
