Default Tribute 2008 accessory power & ignition switch

I just noticed that when you turn the ignition switch off, it does not cut the power to the accessory power outlet (cigarette lighter). This is very annoying if you have a GPS that automatically switches itself off if it senses power off. I am concerned it would drain out the battery.

Is there anything I can do?

Yes don't worry about it it's on a 10 minute delay. After 10 minutes everything shuts down.

Just another of the many things I dislike about the 08 models. In my 07 the upper outlet (on dash)turns off with the car whichlike you mentioned send the signal to the GPS to turn off. The one lower by the little cubbystays 24/7 and it is great for charging up dead cell phones (or one's that draintoo quickly like my8525)with uninterupted charges. At the same time technically you should remove the GPS each time you leave the car and take it with you and lower the risk of having your carbroken into like mine was. BTW just because the horn beeps when you lock the car does not mean it is a true alarm system and only an electronic ignition cut off and the alarm does not sound if broken into. Learned that the hard way too.

I talked to Mazda about this very problem aand they are aware of it. My dealership is waiting for the recall notice to come out because this is not the way the truck should be working. Also set your door lights to the off postion so the lights don't stay on in the car for 10 minutes.

First - it does not turn off, even after 10 minutes.

I spoke to Mazda, which said that it is "working as designed" - did not mention any recall. It seems to me that the only thing that can be done is to have a shop "tweak" it for me.

Do what you like it will turn off, or at least mine does. My dealership says it's a flaw and it's being worked on.

Hi, I drive a 2002 Tribute and when you turn on the cabin lights on 'door' and get out and lock the car, the light will dim and fade
