Default Oil Leak while looking for 2nd hand 2002 V6 230k km

Hi community! Wondering if someone can help me to inspect this oil leak and let me know how bad can it be or where is it from. This is from a 2002 Mazda Tribute V6 with 230k km I’m looking to buy second hand. Thanks!

Very common for lower sump gaskets to leak, also upper sump gaskets have been known to leak.

I would be replacing both sump gaskets, along with front and rear crankshaft seals as a precaution.

Also replace both exhaust manifold gaskets ( be prepared for broken studs ). Plus have a really good look at the cats while they are off.

All the above repairs are far easier & cheaper to carry out now, before the engine gets fitted.

so I will need a mechanic to take the engine out to replace the seals? Or what do you mean with “before the engine gets fitted”?

Imo , clean the engine and underneath (one of those jet sprayers or a couple of tins of degreaser/hose) 1st

One really has to know where it's actually leaking before you can even make a decision , it might be a quick fix otherwise your just chasing your tail . Paul
