Default Brake light on instrument cluster on 2002 Tribute

My brake light is going on and off on the instrument cluster. Sometimes it is on and sometimes it comes on and then goes off. When On I have checked all the lights I can think of and none are out. Any ideas?

Is it your emergency brake light? Check your E-brake and make sure it isn't slightly engaged. Then I would check your fluids.

Your brake fluid is low may be ready for new brakes. I just had that happen to me.

Basically agree with the previous posts. A loose or engaged e-brake will cause the lgith to be on.
As your brake pads wear, the pads move in and more brake fluid is needed to take up the space. You may not need new brakes yet, but might just need to top off the fluid. You may also have a slight leak.
