Default 1990 Instrument Cluster removal

I'm trying to remove the insturment cluster from my son's 1990 626. I removed the bezel OK and then removed the two screws holding the cluster. The cluster is loose but being held in place by what I think may be the speedo cable. Does anyone have any idea what I need to do or how to get to the cable to disconnect it?

If you cannot pull the meter out far enough to disconnect speedo cable from back of cluster, try disconnecting cable from transmission and remove any clips holding cable as well as grommet thru the firewall. This should then allow you to pull cluster out far enough to get a hand in and unplug. Don't forget the electrical connectors as well.

before disconnecting the speedo from the tranny, try to reach up under the dash and see if you can feel the speedo cable that way, I know it is a long shot, but all the other will definately be more of a headache to get it back together.
