Default 2005 Tribute 2.3l using oil

My tribute uses 1 qt of oil every 50 miles or so. We drive mostly interstate. When following the car, I can see black smoke, a little, coming out the tail pipe almost continuously and fairly heavy when downshifting for acceleration. While idling parked in the shop, if you rev the engine, oil (or what i assume is oil or oil residue from the cat and pipe burning it) will spit on the ground behind the tail pipe and some will drop out the tail pipe. It is fairly watery.

History of the car:
Bought the vehicle used with knocking engine.
Got engine from local pullapart that ended up having a burnt valve. Used head off of factory engine and swapped to pullapart engine with new head gasket and put engine back in vehicle. Engine runs smooth and idles fine.

Diagnostics already performed:
replaced PCV valve and PCV valve hose with new.
removed, dissassembled and cleaned oil seperator.
removed and cleaned intake.
no oil in airbox, air filter, or in intake between airbox and throttle body.
Compression test on all cylinders at 180psi
Leak down pressure test. Cylinders 1,3,&4 at 20% leak down.
Cylinder 2 at 5% leak down.

The 15% variation in leak down has me concerned. But I find it odd that 3 cylinders would have higher leak down instead of the odd ball cylinder being the lower leak down.

My best guess is possible a warped head. Maybe that is why the outer cylinders have higher leak downs, and that could be letting oil into the cylinders to be pushed out the exhaust.

I'm am open to questions and suggestions.......please!
I am pretty sure my future holds me pulling this head off!

Thanks I'm advance for your input.

All the black is what comes out the tail pipe while idling and revving the engine.

Your compression results and leak down are "wonkie"?? I would recomend do both over. Do not let the engine rotate more then 5 revolution when doing the compression test.
I would also do a wet compression test as well.
Leak down results on any cylinder more then 15%(when we count the oil consumption problem) is time to......read below....

Sounds like you may be shopping for a low mileage engine to swap out. ?
