Might have an oil leak?

Might have an oil leak?
I am afraid that I might have an oil leak on my 92 1.6 liter 4 cly 323. I mean if it is a leak it doesn't seem to be coming from the oil drain plug or the filter. I am afraid that it might be higher up.
What should I look for and where should I look for a leak?
I really hope I am not having a leak, but I can't be sure because its only a small amount I saw. But I want to make sure.
Also I need to get some new splash gaurds for my 323 any one know where I could find some for cheap, I am hoping I can just find them some where online. I hope.
Thanks, Aaron

RE: Might have an oil leak?
Many places can leak oil but most common from the valve cover or front camshaft/crankshaft oil seals. Oil pressure sender might also be leaking but they usually leak quite a bit. Try to isolate where on the engine it is from by putting a piece of clean cardboard under car overnight and then mark where front tires are in relation to cardboard. Back car off in the morning and should show up.

Well the leak is coming from (if you slide under the front of the car) right behind the oil pan, it looks like it had dripped down. I am thinking it is coming from the valve cover.
I will get some cardboard under there like you said and see what happens.
Thanks Babyhuey.

If it is coming from the valve cover then you should be able to see the leak from above. How much is leaking out? The oil pressure sending unit is in the same area as the oil filter but only higher up. A leaking oil sender will usually drip quite a bit if engine is running but may only be a little if just starting to fail.
