Default 05 Tribute 5th gear slips out. How to drain tranaxle

I have a 2005 Mazda Tribute 5 Speed. It sometimes slips or pops out of 5th gear. When I drained the transaxle, I only got out 16 ounces. Could this be the correct amount? What is the correct amount? I have a Haynes manual, but it doesn't provide enough information. Can someone provide a picture or details on the where to locate the fill plug for the transaxle and let me know the correct amount? The vehicle has 125K miles. The refill plug seems clear but I'm just wanting to make sure I fill the right housing.

Not sure how much 16oz is but I get typically 4 litres when I do partial drains and fills, there are nearly 10 litres in there but most of it doesnt drain by design on a static drain. There is no fill plug, you fill via the dipstick pipe.

Drain whatever will drain, add back that amount and check and adjust (when hot and running), to the dipstick. Drain and refill, run through the gears with the engine running, then drain and refill again and you will have changed about 65% of the old fluid for new. To do better you’ll need to use a proper flushing service via the trans cooler pipes.

See my post here on "false positive" gear oil replacement (aka, "filling up").
