Default Rough idle/running 1.6

I am working on my friend 2000 Protégé 1.6. The car was parked 4 years ago due to a possible broken timing belt. Car starts up but has no power and sounds/feels like a HUGE miss. Checked the plugs as well as the wires and I have spark. Any ideas fellas?? Thank you in advance for your help.

Gasoline will not last 4 years. It's more like turpentine now. The gas tank should be pulled and cleaned. At the very least replace the fuel filter and gas along with some injector cleaner.

That still doesn't help with why it would stop running all of the sudden and then shortly after start running but rough.

Check if the air intake hose has cracks. Take it off and bend it to find the cracks. You can use duct tape to cover the cracks.

Bad gas would explain it for certain. It has to maintain a specific fuel pressure. Plus the injectors hate trash in them. 4 year old gas is a nasty thing to a cars fuel system.

Like TanP said, Protos are notorious for bad intake hoses. Good place to start.
BUT, if you are having a no-power issue, it might also be a clogged cat.

Just a thought....

Well, whatever you do be sure to go around the obvious and spend tons of money and time on it.

Huh? Hixx, your post doesn't seem to make any sense. Please reread and edit as necessary.
Did you mean check out the obvious first before spending tons of time and money on it?
I'm confused.....
