Default New front brakes - Ahhh...

Just over 2 years ago, my son mentioned that his ebrake wasn't holding very well A quick inspection revealed they were toasted. Expecting to replace brakes on all 4 wheels, I ordered a set with all 4 pads and rotors. Did the rear ones first, then moved to the front ones. Turns out the front ones were fine. Rotors smooth, pads have plenty of life. Brakes were done shortly before we bought it (allegedly). Perhaps only the fronts were done at that time. Well no matter.

While swapping out a front axle shaft recently, I noticed the fronts were now due. Since I already had the pads, rotors, guides, grease, etc., no extra trip to the auto parts store was necessary. The only drama (and not much at that) was getting the rotors off the hubs. Hubs still have the centering ring. That and some rust seemed to lock the rotor on. Grabbed an old bolt (with the proper thread) and used the "jacking hole" (come on now, be adults), to separate the rotor from the hub. Worked as it should!

Hardest part was cleaning the rust off the hub. Living in SoCal means it was not severely rusted but getting the area between the studs and the hub center took a bit of effort with a small wire brush.

Well, assembly is the reverse of disassembly. Once all back together, torqued and tested, off we go to "bed the brakes". Brakes feel solid, no noise, no pulling to one side. Job done.

Here's few boring pics. The nearly worn out pad single pic was the driver side outer. The other single pad pic is the pass side inner. Quite the difference. The rotors seem to be pretty much OK. Only a small ledge on the drive side disk and no gouges, just rusty.

(No 10 mm sockets were harmed or lost during this operation)

I know it seems strange but when join a forum you should see what the language used is.

Ya thanks I figured as much.
Gottcha..well he wont get much advise from better knowledgeable members

I belong to a couple of forums, and I have to use a translator from English to their chosen language use. It's just polite thing to do.
