Question 98 protege will not shift out of park

Hi
I have a 98 protege and just got done bleeding the brakes. after I was done I tried to put the car into reverse but the shifter would not move. It acts as if you are not even pushing the brake pedal and trying to shift out of park. the car did shift fine before the bleeding process. could I have over looked a step in the brake bleeding. Any help

Thanks

bleeding the brakes shouldn't have anything to do with the shifting prob. Did you raise car to get underneath or are you lucky enough to have a lift ? There is a thread in the protege postings that talks about someone not able to shift into park. I know thats not the prob , just the opposite , out of park is the prob. The thread talks about the shift cable being able to be adjusted. FIRST , be sure you didn't accidently " lock up " the shifter when lifting and lowering and turning the wheels . Do the easy stuff first , retace your steps , it shifted before you bleed the brakes, right? good hunting
