Default 98 Protege manual transfer starting issue

Hello,
Just recently I had a starting issue with my Mazda protégé. It is a manual five speed transmission and to start I have to push in the clutch and then turn the ignition.

What is happening is when I push the clutch in and go to turn the ignition nothing happens no cranking.

To sometimes get a start I will put it in gear and push the car a couple feet and then I can start the car.

Wondering if I have a starter issue or a clutch switch issue?

Thanks for any suggestions.

One way to find out, check for voltage at the switch, if you have it, jumper the two wires together. Do this with the car in nuetral, then try to crank it.

This should be a normally open switch with 12 volts on one side, the other to the (I think) BCM that allows it to start with the clutch in, the switch will close allowing it as a permissive. Again, don't try this without the transmission in nuetral.
