My 98 Mazda Protege has been stalling more and more lately. The check engine light isnt on and it passed inspection in Aug. When I'am at a red light it stalls and turns off but when Im in park it idles fine. When Im driving the rpm reaches almost 3 and the car is stalling and has no force. I try to accelerate and the rpms go up but slow on acceleration and eventually it kicks and speeds up. This slow accelerate with the stalling then speeding up happens too often. Any ideas what it can be?! Thanks.

 

I have the same year LX, manual. Clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor with a MAFS spray. That helped my rough idling at red lights. Have you cleaned the EGR valve? It was pretty easy to do. Mine was all caked up with carbon built up. Check for cracks before the the throttle body.
