Default 97 Protege ES Tranny Click?

I have a 97 ES 5 spd with about 108K on the clock. I day or 2 ago I noticed a clicking coming from up front. Sounds like a when a CV is bad except mine is always clicking, primarily when you're off the gas and going straight or turning. It doesn't matter if the car's in gear or neutral. The noisegets faster with speed and slower as I slow. All my CV boots look good and I put it on a lift and got the wheels moving and it definitly sounds like its inside the tranny. The clutch is grabbing good still and the noise doesnt change when the clutch is in or out. Anyone have any idea what this might be? Thanks.

Nate

Check all your exhaust shields.

it seems to be near the bottom....the noise is pretty loud so it must be close to the bottom...you can feel it in the shifter as well...
