Default 96 protege alternator belt

Alternator belt snapped yesterday. I need to know the sizes of the bolts and nuts on it so I can get the new belt on.

Would it be better to remove the front passenger wheel to give more clearance?

No.

IIRC you need to loosen the power steering/ AC belt and remove it, then loosen the alternator mounting bolts and tension in order to put the new belt on. I found it difficult to reach the lower alternator mounting bolt. I had to get at it from below about the middle with an extension.
Secure the car really good on jack stands or you have a good chance to get crushed.

I didn't need to jack it. I turned my wheels all thr way to the right and I removed the splash guard and passenger headlight. I think I did something wrong though as far as ac belt. I loosened the tension first then I went to loosen the "a" and so on, but the "a" bolt is very long snd I tried to takr it out and it ended up hitting the frame so I tried to put it back through and it goes through the mounting parts and thr middlr of the pump, but it won't go through from the middle to the other mounting. I think it may have shifted, and the belt still hasn't gotten loose. Please help!

Got everything right but i think the belt is too small our the wrong one. I put the part number in for the belt i had that snapped and it said it fit the 94 protege but the counter guy gave me a different part number belt and i have a 96 protege. I'm so confused.

Sorry for the late answer, daquane25. I was out of commission for a while.

The belts carry 2 numbers, separated by a hyphen. The second number tells you the length of the belt in mm.
I suggest you look up the belt for your engine on several websites of parts stores. Or you ask the Mazda Dealer's parts department for the parts number based on the VIN of your Protege.
You probably noticed that the alternator must be pushed forward to allow the new belt to go on the pulleys. That pushing forward may require some persuasion because of corrosion at the mounting points.
