Default 95 Protege AC not working what should I check

Hi I just bought a beater 95 Protege. The Ac does not work. When I turn the AC wsitch on the light turns on, idle rises, Both fans turn on but not cold at all. I can not hear the compressor turn on. The system has 100LB in it should be more than enugh to turn the compressor on. Any thoughts, ideas? Thanks

the lights turning on so it sounds like the clutch in the compressor. the clutch is bad so the compressor cannot be activated. unless its some sort of bad relay or fuse, which i doubt because the light is on, you are most likely looking at a new compressor and if its truly a beater it may not be worth the money to buy a new one. maybe a local junkyard adventure is in your future?

I agree with the used option if you really have to have it.
Friend of mine elected on having an aftermarket sunroof cut in to his old Corolla versus the cost of a used compressor that may or may not make it out of next week.
