92' Protege Questions
Hi there. I just bought a 92' Protege DX w/ a manual transmission. Has 213,000 original miles. It was taken care of but a few things have come to my attention.
. When taking off, I heard a whistle sound coming from the engine.[:-].Could this be a vaccum hose??? Also when down shifting, one of the belts make a screatching noise. This also happens when i have the heater on and rear defroster or if it's rainning. Which belt could this be??? I am also wondering why this caris aSOHC but has 16 vavles??? Many other cars that have 16 valves are DOHC. Is this normal??? Thanks

it should have either 16 valves or dohc. it may just have a different valve cover on it. this sounds like the alternator belt and the whistle could be a lot of different things, i would have to hear it. check the vacuum lines to see if there are leaks or if they are hooked up incorrectly.
