Default 2003 Protege , To Fluid or Not !

I have a 2003 Protege with 125K miles on it. One dealership said NOT to Change/Flush the trans fluid another said TO Change/Flush. What is the correct approach ?

With a car with hi mileage, changing the fluid in stages is best. Drain and fill a few times, no flush. You should have flushed/filled it at 30,000-40,000 miles! (AUTOMATIC)

iS THIS AN AUTOMATIC OR STANDARD!

The joys of buying used and old, not knowing service history!

i agree with noggin. drain the transmission fluid. replace the filter. clean any magnets in the transmission fluid pan (if any. if there is none, put one in. the ones out of a bad computer hard drive are great for this. very strong). refill with fluid. the torque converter holds around 2/3 of all transmission fluid. use the car and repeat in about 3 or 6 months. this is not wisdom. its just the way i did when i bought a used car with auto transmission. when i say repeat, i dont mean replace the filter. you dont have to replace that until the next 60k miles or so. or whatever the book says.
