2000 Protege..w. washer fluid pump starts on its own
2000 protege windshield washer pump starts on its own and can only be stopped by removing battery cable or disabling pump. I have replaced the pump with new one and same thing happened. After pump change , it was ok while driving rhe car for an hour. Pump started again when the vehcle was unoccupied and parked for about 6 hours. Also when attempting to stop using the wiper lever the wipers will start and will not stop. Presently the pump power plug is pulled as is the wiper motor plug. Has anyone ever seen this? Need some help!
Problem solved....After changing the pump and wiper control switch without success, the problem was with a wiper park switch found on the wiper motor assembly. this can be replaced by removing 3 screws and changing switch....However , Mazda in its great money grabbing wisdom do not stock the switch separately and one must buy the whole motor assembly at $200 plus. Therefore suggest if this problem ever occurs, go to your local auto salvage....much cheaper....Cheers
