Default '01 Protege 1.6L engine "bucking"

New to the group and need some help trying to diagnose a problem with my 2001 Protege 1.6L. A few weeks back, the engine was "bucking" (loss of power) at high engine rpm. I removed and cleaned the EGR valve and the problem was solved until now. Now the problem is more severe and any engine rpm speed and causes the engine to stall as well. Any help would be appreciated!

Default engine bucking

Check the air intake hose carefully for cracks and leaks. I have had 3 "accordian like" intake hoses crack and leak on Proteges causing randon engine "bucking" . If the hose is cracked - just duct tape it together until you can order a new intake hose. A leaking hose causes the mixture to lean out.

Wow! A response to a 5 yr old post. I wonder if the OP is still alive?

Unfortunately, the default listing when viewing threads is alphabetical, not by date. After selecting a thread to view, you must click on column "Last Post" to re-arrange by current date. I have mentioned this but i guess it's not important. https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/maz...07/#post128694

I still find value in the old posts and I read and respond to any relavent posts I find. There are still many Proteges out there and I strongly suspect this problem gets worse with age. Keep those Proteges alive and well!
