New '91 MX6 owner. Few issues.
Hello,
Recently picked up a 1991 MX-6 with a low 90K on it. Unfortunately it has been neglected maintenance wise. The 2 major issues are that the auto tranny bangs into gear (worse when it's cold but always present). And there is a click and squeaks from the steering/front suspension over bumps and when turning the steering wheel. While neither of these seems like impending doom I would like to consult the experts here and see if they are known minor problems or something worth taking care of.

Though it is old, that"s ashame. I like the late "80"s/early "90"s MX6 models.
The auto tranny is probably just the way it is. I doubt they were too civil from the start. I"d search the junkyards and convert it to a 5-sp. I"ve driven several of them form that vintage (I was seriously in the market for one about 10 yrs ago) and I loved the 5-sp tranny.
As for the suspension... that"s one you will just have to look into. W/90k and you say not well maintained miles, it could be as simple as needing new struts and/or upper strut bearings, to an entire rebuild. They are pretty simple to work on though and as far as I know, standard tools will do it for you. Might be a good wintertime project, if you have a garage to use?
