Mazda MX-3 and Mazda MX-6 These two sporty models have become popular cars for import tuners due to the availability of parts, the low price, and the smooth lines.

Post MX-3 Project Car

So I was looking for a car to work on and learn mechanic from. I was actually looking for a honda at first but I came across this MX-3 and I couldn't resist. I haven't really seen one in my area, only in PR. So I just had to get it. There are no mechanical problems with the car so far except for a very small oil leak coming from the back somewhere that needs to be addressed. Right now I'm sanding it down since I have only had time at night to work on it and finding an oil leak that is very tiny is very difficult at night. Anyways here are my goals, I plan on doing everything myself. I live in Central Jersey so I am willing to go to meets or meet anyone who just wants to have fun completing this car with me.

CURRENT GOALS:
Paint car on a budget: IN PROGRESS
Plastic dip car: PENDING
Repair oil leak: IN PROGRESS
Exhaust repair: IN PROGRESS
Springs, Bars: PENDING
Halo Headlights: PENDING
Redo interior: PENDING
Add spoiler: PENDING

END GOAL:
BPT/BPD Swap: PENDING

What color you going? I know that graphite color isn't stock. Also, how much did you pick it up for?

I am thinking of painting it either white or grey simply because I want to plastic dip (yellow) it after and I feel like those are good base colors for the colors that I want to use in the future.

Good luck to you. I'm doing a similar thing but out of necessity. My MX-3 GS has been quite the teacher for learning mechanics. I have literally been working on it for a year, but there were several months I had to take off because of other commitments.

Get it running and it's a great fun car. If you hit some bumps let me know, more than likely I have been through it!
