Default engine question

I've got a '95 2.5 v6 and for a while it's been smelling like it's on fire...even though it's not. the smell gets stronger at idle, and I check the antifreeze and oil levels frequently to make sure. any ideas?

If it smells like oil on fire then its from oil falling onto your exhaust system. You smell it more at idle because the smoke stays under your car longer. Oil can be from leaking gasket i.e. valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, main oil seals, and in some cases, grease from ruptured CV boots. Sometimes you'll smell it after an oil change because during the process some oil was spilled onto the exhaust system.
