Third Brake light works but both brake lights in taillight assembly do not work

Hi, I tried searching the forum but could not find a solution to my problem, thus starting a new thread. The third brake light in the tailgate works but both brake lights in the taillight assembly do not work. I have checked the fuse and the fuse is good. I verified this by checking the third light, when the fuse was taken out 3rd light also stopped working. After putting back the same old fuse the 3rd brake light started working again but the brake lights did not work. That was fuse # 34 in the engine compartment. I shall greatly appreciate some help. Thanks.
