Default Keep blowing fuses for brake light system...any suggestions?

I have a 2000 Mazda Protege and just recently I lost my brake lights. This was just after having it at the shop where they performed work on the brakes. I have talked with the shop and they have no idea what is wrong. I have replaced both rear brake lights as well as removed the third light (rear ledge). The moment I press the brake pedal the fuse blows. I can't find any direct short (at least not yet). I have looked under the dash along the brake pedal to see if the switch is shorting out but it appears to be good. I'm not an "electrical guy" so I'm a bit out of my league on this. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
