Default EVAP Code P0455

The check engine light was on on our 2010 CX-9. Took it to the dealer and got a call a couple hours later saying it needed the software updated to get the check engine light to go off. The charge is $200. This does not make sense to me. Why does my car all the sudden need a software update to get a check engine light to go off. Seems like a money grab to me.

$200 sounds alot ( I work for Mazda, we charge $80 for a software update outside of the scheduled service)

The $200 may include diagnostic time spent & the update.

I've seen alot of issues solved by software upgrades. Its the same as having a home computer, from time to to time you need software upgrades to fix glitches in the program.
