I owned 2008 CX9 GT and now 2013 CX9 GT... Looking into potentially getting into 2016/17 CX9. Here are few questions


1. Cargo space , How in the world did we lose 10 cubic ft of cargo when new CX9 is the same dimensions ??? It makes no sense at all specially that we gained 2 inches of wider wheel base what normally gains interior room ???

2. Why no CD player , even as a dealer installed option , say hidden in armrest ???

3. Can anyone confirm if current car has less BTU in the AC comparing to previous body style ? Maybe comparing specs of compressors / evaporators on current and previous gen???

4. Did anyone test acceleration on regular vs premium fuel , 0-60 and quarter mile where HP takes over torque.

5. Did anyone test drove MPG difference on regular vs premium fuel ???

6. Android auto, when is it coming ?

Talking about pros , there are many I do not question any of them .
Overall great vehicle , just need to tweak some issues above

I'll answer a couple things. You will not miss the CD player. The Bluetooth hooks up to my iPhone and you can play music off your phone and control it from the head unit. It also has the Pandora app. You can use the usb to hook up devices. I have an old MP3 player that I leave plugged in and the head unit controls it, even displays the album covers.

The A/C, it would be nice if there was another speed. I noticed it cools faster with the lower vents turned on with the normal vents on also. But since I've tinted the Windows and use a sun shade the AC hasn't been an issue and I live in Florida. Once to temp it will freeze you.

Cargo space is minimal with all seats up.

I've been using premium, and I haven't been paying attention to gas mileage. It's quick and has a good kick when passing.

 

I cannt answer all your questions since I am coming from a Saturn Outlook to my 2016 CX-9 but here is what I know:

3) This is something that bothers me a bit. Living in CenTX where the temperatures are often in the 90s I find the AC a bit too weak. It's ok on longer trips but I think it takes a bit too long to cool the car down. It's really only an issue when parked in the sun, but that happens here a lot.

4) I ran a tank full of Premium through there and yes, I can feel that there are more horsepower at higher rpm, however no much difference below 3,000 rpm

 

I feel your pain, I live in Phoenix AZ and we have just had our first day in 3 months below 100. I think it is the blower is a little weak at full blast. Cools down pretty well with both front and rear AC on however.

This engine was tuned specifically to provide higher HP and Torque at lower RPMs, it tends to fall off over 4K RPM. I test drove a lot of small and mid sized SUV's and none had the off-the-line power this car has.

And the high humidity we have this summer didn't help much either....
