Default 2016 cx9 power seat

Has anyone noticed that the new 2016 Mazda Cx9 8 way power seat is only 6 way. When you use the front and back of the seat switch it does the same movement only in an opposite direction. The front cushion doesn't tilt like an 8 way power seat should. it goes back and forth, reclines back and forth and then raises and lowers in the same arc. Its like the switch is 8 way but the seat was developed with only 6 ways of movement.

What grade are you looking at?

In my market the base models get 6 way & top spec gets 8 way.

In the brochure it states all power seats on all trim levels as an 8 way power seat. I tested the seat in multiple grand tourings and signatures and they all were the same. Using the front or back of the switch moved the seat in the exact same movement. If you check out the 8 way In a grand touring cx5 or mazda6 the front of the cushion moves up and down plus the entire seat tilts up and down like an 8 way seat should do. The cx9 seat just tilts the entire seat up and down there is no separate movement of the front of the cushion. Tall drivers can get way more comfortable in a cx5 or mazda6 seat then a cx9 seat because of the front cushion movement.

Nope, all trims have only 6-way power driver seat and 4-way passenger. I have the GT and also noted this in the Signature. The literature is wrong.

thats ashame. $40k vehicle with a 6way seat. I test drove one for a 3rd time and just can not get the seat in a comfortable position for me. I need a seat tilted back like I can in my Cx5 GT. real shame Mazda dropped the ball on that. It has to be the only vehicle in its class that has a 6 way seat in all trim levels. that combined with the memory positions not controlling the mirrors are huge misses on Mazda's part. Who cares about the HUD being linked if you have to readjust the side mirrors everytime you get in the car after someone else was driving.

Agreed about the 6-way seat, I was able to get a good enough position for me and my wife is also ok with it.

As far as the memory setting, this has been an issue across all Mazda models. My 6 GT is no different. Mazda needs to correct these inconsistencies if they want to keep ahaed of the competition.

I test drove a lot of small and mid-sized SUVs and the CX-9 was way better as far as the ride and drive. As good as or better than even the luxury brands for less $$. Was considering the Infinity QX60 until I found it had a CVT. I already got burned buying a car with a "better" transmission. In June bought a 2016 Hyundai Tucson Limited with Ultimate package, great car, tons of features. Had it all of 10 days and the Dual Clutch Transmission failed 4 times, nation wide problem, Hyundai repurchased it and I got the CX-9. Pretty PO'd about the whole thing as I gave up my Corvette to get a new, loaded SUV for the wife.
