I just went to a mechanic today to have headlight bulbs replaced because they are in such a convenient place to replace. Anyway as I was leaving a mechanic asked if I have had issues with the car, which I have not at 67,000 miles. He said he is seeing a lot of CX-7s being brought in with turbocharger problems and they are a nightmare. He recommended I buy an external warranty. I have less than a year to pay off this thing, and now I am concerned it may not be worth keeping. Sounds like a very expensive fix. I have a 2011. Anyone have any input on this?

 

Turbo issues are a known issue. Full & proper servicing ( correct mileage & correct oil ) is your best bet. Installing a turbo timer is a good idea.
