Question 2007 Mazda CX7 Sport Turbo Cranks but no start

So I thought id give this forum a try because I am at a dead end.

I bought this car from someone for $700 in a no cranking&no starting condition. its been sitting for some time now. confident that I can get it up and running. I managed to get it to crank now but still no start.

here is a list of repairs I have done on it so far.

new battery - reading 12.75v hooked up
new starter - reading 12.5v w. multimeter positive lead connected to positive end on starter, negative lead on battery.
new spark plugs - tested all 4 plugs with a spark plug tester connected to plug and coil boot while turning key to crank. tester lit up each time.
new starter relay - (inside engine compartment fuse box)
new F/pump relay (inside engine compartment fuse box)
new INJ relay - (inside engine compartment fuse box)

new oil change

checked cam shaft sensor - ( live wire + neg wire = 12v ) ( communication wire + neg wire = 5v then drops when putting a socket close to it) so that seems to be good.

I did buy a new fuel pump but when I turn the key to ignition on to hear the old one engage, it does sound normal. so I have yet to put the new one in.
my brother suggested I try to crank the engine and then pull one of the spark plugs out and if it smells like fuel then that means I'm getting fuel pressure. hopefully that's accurate. gas was a bit low so I did add 2 gallons of fresh gas in the car.

I did hook up a obd2 scanner to it but no codes are stored at the moment. one code I seen awhile ago was U0100. " Lost communication with ECM/PCM "A" "

tried giving the mycarly app a try but I really don't understand the live data values since the car doesn't run.

any advice would deff help.

Have you tested fuel fuel pressure?
Have you carried out a spark test?
Have you carried out a compression test?
Have you carried out a leak down test?
Have you checked, and confirmed engine timing? ( Cams - crank )
