I had the same problem for several months and the charger shows charging with green LED on and then goes to solid red within 30-60 seconds.
I found this Service Alert document that may help you debug the issue if your wireless charger is faulty.
After trying a few phones and attempted to disable NFC and other battery configurations on my phone, I found a solution to my problem that fixed the Pixel 8 charging issue.
I attached a piece of foam that is approximately 1/3 inch wide to the passenger side of the wireless charger pad.
My Pixel 8 has the Otterbox case on it and it fits the charger pad without any movement and my phone charges every time now.
I can NOT see the LED status now but I can see on Android auto that charging is on and my phone is also showing that it is charging.
So it seems that unless you line up the charger on a phone exactly where it lines up with the charger coil under the pad you will continue to have charging issues.
Another phone with or without a case may need to me lined up a different way but my recommendation for anyone is to use a case so that the phone is flat and line up the phone until you see the charging is on and stays on for more than a minute before you attach a piece of foam to either side to keep the phone from moving while driving.
