Default What if Mazda made a Porsche Cayenne type of vehicle

What if Mazda made a real high horsepower 450 hp or more sport suv that was competition for a Porsche Cayenne ? Imagine a sub $70000.00 suv that handled and preformed ,without the insane price and insane maintenance cost . i would be a buyer. ,

I can't see that happening considering the prices of the top line CX-70 and CX-90. They are in that class but only have 340hp and still cost close to 60k.

Imagining is the only way that will happen.

And honestly while I do really like my CX-5, if you have ever tried a Porsche SUV, on top of the power you will easily find the Porsche handling is superior.
In the majority of performance motor vehicles there is a valid reason why you pay a premium price.

Agreed. The tagline "Porsche, there is no substitute" isn't just for show. My favorite car ever was my 2002 Boxster 2.7. Perfect handling, awesome brakes, precision driving experience.

Mazda has the ability to do it ,and do it right for less.Germany has significantly higher labor costs in the automotive industry compared to Japan, contributing to a higher overall manufacturing cost.

You really think if they could do it, they wouldn't have already done it? Mazda makes great cars, but they are not P-car level and never will be.

if there is a market and a big enough profit , they not only could but could do it for less and with better quality control . Do not underestimate the Japanese . Ever hear of Nikon, Lexus , Accuphase, Yamaha , Grand Seiko ,Miroku firearms , Akoya cultured pearls ?

We already have Lexus who can and does compete with the heavyweight makers. Mazda doesn't have the resources to do so with a company like Porsche, who has VAG behind them. Mazda seems very comfortable where they are. I don't want them going upmarket.

Everyone has the ability, but it won't happen because...
The major difference (facts to back this up are readily available) between Germany, Japan (and US) auto manufacturers are simple.
German auto workers unions, work hand in hand with the manufacturers.
Japanese (US) auto companies and unions are in adversarial relations at best.
When unions and manufacturers work together, they create a great product.
People will pay more for a great product plus it will sell itself.

I'm a buyer if MAZDA builds it . AT 1/2 the price and much less insane maintenance and parts cost . It would be a winner .
