Using Waze thru Nav system in 2017 CX5
If you have an iphone or a recent Samsung it should be available on carplay or Android Auto.
I've got it on my Samsung phone but it doesn't show on my CX5's Nav display. I think my 2017 would require a firmware upgrade.
Thank you. Is the installation a matter of a firmware upgrade or is there hardware that also needs to be installed?

I found the dealer installation price too high. Also a bit scared since they need to disassemble large portion of the dash. So I bought a mid-priced Android phone, popped in a data-only SIM card (from Google Fi), used a magnetic vent phone holder, and all did cost me about half of the dealer installation price for Apple Car Play / Android Auto.

I already have an android phone. I installed Android Auto on my phone, hooked it up via a cable connection to one of the Mazda usb ports and tried
to get my Navigation system to recognize my Waze
app from my phone. Are you able to get the waze app (or others) to mirror thru your head(?) display unit of your Mazda? ......
Ohhhhhhhhh....just reread your post.
Are you saying you just scrapped the idea of getting
AA running thru your nav system and are just using
your phone with a mount on your dash? 😄
That's about where I am now! Just ordered a couple
of phone mounts to test. I watched a video of the AA installation process for older models. Not sure
I want to have all that dismantling done to my new
(2017) CX5 either. 😄
Thanks for your post!
