Used CX-5 buyer info
First post, apologize for the likely very newbie questions.I’m looking for a small SUV for soon to be 16 yo daughter. I need something that won’t break the bank and most of all be reliable. I don’t have any interest in replacing a CVT transmission in a couple years. The CX-5 seems to be an excellent choice. I would love to be around $12k but can stretch to $15k.
I can see somewhere in 16 they changed up the model a bit. It’s obvious by the dashboard. What are the differences I should be interested in between the generations? IE should I get 16 earlier or 17 later?
Here’s list of feature I’d like in order of importance, not certain if they are standard or optional:
1) Back up camera
2) Blue tooth capable
3) Remote lock
4) Push button start
5) Leather seats
6) Remote start
Generally looking for advice from owners as to what models or features are important and any things to look out for.
Don’t know how important mileage is on these cars. Is an older car with lower mileage better than a newer care with more miles?
Any advise is very much appreciated. If you happen to have a car you think fits the bill PM me. Thanks all!

Welcome to the forum
I hear this from used vehcle buyers all the time they thought the vehcle was in great shape but failed to research and find everything about the vehcle as well have it inspected from an independent service shop (not a dealer) that offers something in line with a 100+ point inspection (that what we offer ++more) and whatever you find the service history is the most important first thing to look at before any further considerations.
The top on my list is a transmission that was at least service once(2X better) before it reaches 60 k miles (80k absolutely tops)

The CX-5 changed models in 2017 (the 25 is still the same generation). I would go for a '17 (or newer) if you find one that fits your budget and it checks out service history wise. As said above, always get a PPI when buying used.
