Oops, I said ambient temperature, but in my mind I was thinking cabin temperature, sorry.
Is there a way to look at the temperature sensors using the OBD2 connection?
I am aware of a program called "Forscan" that will work on the Mazda and that would be an easy hookup.
I also recommend at least once a year to do a HVAC system cleaning. Anyone can do this and you don't even need to be a DIY
This will eliminated bacteria and other built up crap in the HAVAC system that often causes foul or stale smells in your vehicles.
Also replace or clean your cabin filter at least every season change.
You are talking about the spray product which you introduce though the dash vents? I had to use that in my Audi Q7 (this is what I used at that time-
)as it had a terrible mildew smell from the AC over time. So far my CX-5 has not had this issue. Maybe that is what the dealer meant when they wanted to do an AC service for $170 when I went in for my oil change. Do you really change your cabin filter every season(4x/yr)? I replace mine every 15k.

Yes the service is pictured detailed on my thread, but I can't fond it? And its introduced in front of the blower motor so it covers the complete interior of the HVAC system and exits the vents. Then there is a spray "bomb" after that service is done that you use with the windows up and the AC on Max for about 15 minutes.

After seeing unpublished cabin filter analysis, I know recommend the seasonal changes or sooner if air quality is poor.
I just ordered a can. I will put some in each of my cars. Maybe I will try and find the drain vent and introduce it that way this time. 18 bucks is a lot better than the 150 (I just looked at the invoice again) the dealer wanted....

The K&N Cabin filter is a 10 minute service from removing cleaning and after it *dries reinstalling it.
*The drying takes longer than removing and cleaning it. in the sun on a 70f +day about 15 minutes

Although where I live there is no fires I still get the results of all the ash that is carried hundreds of miles from the big fires here in California. The interior of my Mazda was starting to smell like ash/smoke even though I have used only re-circulation setting. I just cleaned the cabin filter 5 days and 65 miles ago and look at what it has collected. Well it clean again and the interior is fresh smelling.... again!
At first glance it only looks like a small amount of debris.
I placed a clean white paper and tapped the filter a few times.
This may look like dirt but it is mostly ASH!
Ash it the the worst partials to get into the fresh air system because it is not dust dust but a semi soft paste that will coat everything. The only way to clean this if it gets into the ducts is soap and water and wiping it out. Thank fully I have only been using re-circulation and can easily remove the wiper arm cover to access the intake primary duct to clean it after the smash filled sky has cleared and return to normal around here. o
