Default Car is not safe and may need a recall!

I originally thought Mazda was great. I got a brand new 2017 CX5 in November and loved it. Then 2 months ago it completely died on the highway and caused me to get rear ended. Luckily I wasn't in a pileup because I was on a congested section of freeway with cars flying by me at 60-70 mph!

Mazda proceeded to say the car was just out of gas, even though I know the fuel tank did not have any indication of low when it shut off. After 2 weeks of "test driving" my car, they realized I wasn't crazy after all! They then proceeded to replace the entire fuel system and repair the damages from the accident.

This was a brand new car! My life and the lives of my passengers were put in complete danger and Mazda has yet to show me that they are going to do anything to make the whole situation right again, other than fix their own problems.

It's now been 2 months and I have yet to even get my car back and really don't feel it would even be safe to drive again after everything that happened and all the time that's gone by now! The general manager won't even return my calls!

Everything about this feels bad and puts me in this position, where I now need to shed some light on Mazda's actual safety and customer service: awful, highly unreliable, and not recommended!

Is this a diesel or petrol engine. You need to include more specifics in your posts.

Sell it. Buy a Fiat and enjoy the dealership waiting rooms as you will spend a lot of time there.

I have 83k+ trouble-free miles on my 2016 CX-5 with original battery and 1/2 life left on original brakes. It is better than my Honda CRV.

I sympathize with you but it can happen to any make at any time. Nothing is 100%, especially with all the electronics and software running things these days.
