remote window only opens
Of course the CX-5 has a "remote window"feature, where you press the unlock button on the key fob four times, and hold it down on the last press, and ALL the windows come all the way down. I guess that's how you ventilate a car before you get in it on a hot day? Minor convenience. But the remote window function doesn't close the windows. Just opens them. So if you happen to open all the windows with the key fob, and then decide you'd rather have them closed, you need to turn on the car and close them with the window switches inside.

Thanks. I guess that makes some sense. Power windows can be dangerous. But Mazda's allegedly have "jam-safe" safety feature that is supposed to reverse the window if an obstruction (a hand, head, etc.) gets in the way. That being said, the manual says "Power window switches that are not locked with the power window lock switch would allow children to operate power windows unintentionally, which could result in serious injury if a child's hands, head or neck becomes caught by the window." So I guess "jam-safe" isn't really that safe?

I guess some of you never pulled a door panel off to remove foreign material in the window transmission mechanisms before. When those old-style door window seal started to become brittle and leaves gaps in the window to door sealing then many foreign debris would get into the window tracking causing everything from hard to roll up to the limiting the full closing or opening of a window. Even on new seals foreign material can and does occasionally gets pulled into the door cavity past those window glass seal during operation the window up and down.
My guess is the rare owner of a vehicle actually clean the sealing area ever because most never think about that as an area that gets dirty.

Well, FYI, jam-safe ONLY WORKS if the window is in automatic closure mode. That is, you pull up on the window control button quickly, and then let go of it, such that the window finishes closing by itself. If you hold the window button up to close it, jam-safe WILL NOT WORK, and you will seriously crush anything in the window. The point being that if you're holding the window button up to close the window, the car thinks you really want to crush whatever is in the window. If jam-safe sees an obstacle, it will reverse the window direction. That being the case, it takes a moment for jam-safe to do it, so you could get something big slightly crushed.

Anyway you are on my list to be entertained by your threads so as long as *you never challenge my responses LOL I will continue to respond in anyone's thread to hopefully set more facts less DIY wisdom and help member's.
