Default Rear hatch release button - 2017

The rubber push button on the rear hatch used to pop open the hatch. Now I need to open the hatch via the button in the cockpit - whether the car is locked, unlocked, engine running or not.

Something changed the settings, I believe. Thinking back a month or two ago, there was an event in my garage where the LED bulbs (designed for garage door openers ) in my garage door opener went whacky, producing copious RF to the point that none of my remotes worked, neither for the garage door nor for my car. Strange? Indeed. I have since replaced those leds with incandescents.

I went into the settings in the center stack to determine if there was a clear cut setting for the rear hatch button to open the hatch. The options are not clear cut to me. There are several options for locking/unlocking/opening the rear hatch. Does anyone know which option should be selected to enable opening the rear hatch via the button on the hatch? Or do I have some other issue going on?

I thought my hatch latch broke this morning after opening it once -- but it turned out that I was pushing a round rubber button that does (?) instead of the square rubber button at the middle. Look under the ledge instead of just feeling for it.
