Default 2019 cx 5 rear door button not working

I have 2019 CX 5. For the last couple of days when I park the car, put the brake on, and the ignition is turned off (or even if the motor is running), and I go to the rear of the car to open hatch, when I push the button near the rear license plate light, the door does not open. I can open it with the switch inside the vehicle near the steering wheel and also using my key fob. Any idea what the problem might be? Thanks.

I notice there is quite a bit of variation in how my '19 operates as well. If I get out of the drivers door and don't unlock the other doors it won't work (even the dash button). Sometimes when I wash the car it does the same thing, refuses to work until I hit the unlock button. Does your hatch button ever work?

This weekend is the first time I have had any problem with it. I have had the SUV for a little over a year.

So I got a new battery for my fob just to make sure that was not a problem.

What you said was correct: all doors must be unlocked in order for the door to open via the button on the driver's side and also using the fob.

I dropped by the Mazda dealer and had the guy take a quick look. What he showed me was that in order for the rear hatch button to work, all the doors had to be locked.
Which worked at the dealership. But tried it again when I got home and the rear hatch button does not open the door even if the doors are locked.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.
