Problems with rising oil levels in CX 5 diesels
Hi - Mazda Cx-5 diesel owners in Australia are becoming increasingly concerned about rising engine oil levels in their new cars. Mazda has been issuing a warning notice to the effect that rising oil levels are "common" in diesel engines. However some owners have reported extreme oil levels (to the X mark on the dipstick and beyond) in the first 5000 k's of driving. These high levels require an immediate return to the dealership for a full engine oil replacement and apparently at the owner's expense. Concerns are being expressed about the major damage to the engine that could occur if the oil is not replaced and levels reduced to normal. Owners are also concerned about the ongoing costs of oil changes which are over and above normal servicing.
To date Mazda has not responded with a solution - only a statement saying it is aware of owner's concerns.
