Hey,

2018 mazda cx5 started throwing warning today about overheating then seized up completely. Looked and saw it had run out of coolant. Topped it up and left it cool down for an hour or so. Thought it would be fine but it started doing the same thing again when I started it up again.

Anybody know if I might be lookingbat something more serious than just running out of coolant?

 

What engine do you have? Usually when an engine overheats and seizes, it will need rebuilding or replacement. Good luck.

 

Can't say as I've ever seen any engine that "seized up" from no coolant "while running" ever turn over again without some form of rebuild.
Safety shutdown on some yes but never a seized one, but then I have only personally seen a limited number of seized engines.
Thankfully none were mine.
