If you had gone to my thread as I suggested, you would have seen many pictures over miles and documentation of changing oil and filter every 3 k miles.

votex and goldplug are built similarly...the rod is just shorter

No they are not.... trust me I am an engineer among many other things.
Vortex uses buttons.

Button are more secure during instalation which are pressed into the threaded porttion. While rods are less expensive for the manufacture to use and often fracture which is unseen during their pressing into the drainplug.
Buttons and rods may look close to the same, but they are vastly different on how they are manufacture.

well that makes 2 of us...i'm just not a mechanical engineer (civil)...so what you're saying is both buttons and rods are pressed into the bolt head, so same installation method...the rods are longer than the buttons obviously but is the depth they are pressed into the bolt head the same or no?...i understand that the length of the rod makes it more apt to microfractures upon pressing into the bolt head just due to the length vs a button...just curious on the depth pressed into the bolt head between the 2

But a inexpensive rod type and put it in a vice and break it easily with a pair pf pliers and then you will understand. Don't bother with button type you wont break it. LOL

And as I said on your thread I am done talking about drain plugs. While quality is important debating and talking about every aspect of them, to what end. I know what works and does not from a straight engineering prospective and what I have used and seen fail in a few decades.
