You can't set it to 0 because it doesn't have the Sirius Module. Only the Touring is supposed to have it. Our salesman 'failed' to mention that to us.

It's so frustrating that our older, also non-touring level Mazdas had the Sirius option.

We can do an after market add on... but I will always be annoyed everytime i see the XM greyed out...

Why do sales people have to be so deceptive?

I imagine there's just account numbers etc you have to enter in the app in your phone and then it will work. Like Pandora, which it opens even if I have it shut on my phone since I have an active Pandora account.
Every Sirius enabled radio has a specific code which allows XM to activate the radio. That is the code they want. Every Sirius enabled radio I've seen also will have one or two preview stations that you can always access, not that they are worth listening to as they are just ads as to why you should activate. If you don't have those, you don't have the module. As I said earlier, it sounds like the newer Mazda radios are hardwiring the modules into the build rather than just having a plug-in module which can be added later.

I just entered my VIN on the Sirius website and it said my car isn't equipped with satellite radio..maybe not Their radio, but it has an antenna on the roof and clearly is able to stream apps like Pandora, Aha, and Stitcher all of which I do get via the apps in my phone. So this should stream through the app with an account number. Just found my old portable Sirius radio, plugged it in and it updated its channels in the house even though my account is off. Looks like it's streaming The Coffee House. Will take it out to the car and see if it runs off the cigarette lighter and the roof or indoor antenna since my old Sirius car antenna is still on the car my son is driving..but Aha even has TED radio so how many streaming services does one need??!

Okay so I tried plugging my old Sirius portable radio in via the cigarette lighter and using the AUX as an input. It works just fine - sound quality is very good even using the indoor antenna just put up on the dash. At first it only showed a few channels but then I guess updated the full channel content...and then it said "subscription updated" - uh oh. That was not intended!! I doubt they have current credit card info so not sure what that meant. Anyway for those of you bummed about Sirius not being installed, this is a way around - it doesn't show the content on the center display though, only on the radio itself.

Default Why is XM greyed out?

i just bought a used 2016 CX-5 touring. I went to transfer my XM from my old vehicle to my new vehicle and I can’t access the XM option. We didn’t buy it from a Mazda dealership but the salesman at the place we bought it from assured me we had satellite radio. Since it’s greyed out is it a simple take it to a Mazda dealer to get it switched on or is it going to require a add on? I’m so frustrated! Local radio is awful!

Default 2016 CX5 GT Radio Replacement Problem

My factory radio nav system went out (just constantly rebooted). Dealer said need new CMU for 1100 plus labor. Ordered used radio nav system on ebay for 199 and put it in today. There is choice for Sat Radio on screen and says my vehicle is not equipped with NAV. The radio is. Is there a separate Sat radio unit elsewhere in the dash that I forgot to hook up? I didn't see anything on previous radio that sat Sirius. Searched ebay and shows a separate unit but can figure out where it is in the car and what if anything it hooks up to on back of radio.

Unhappy Sales people aren't deceptive

Sales people aren't deceptive. Mazda is deceptive. I am hear as a Sales Person trying to figure this out as well. Obviously the Cx-5 we just sold had a XM radio emblem on it so anyone would assume you have XM radio. We sell every type of used vehicle and it's impossible to know every quirk that car makers put out there. This upsets us just as much, and I feel that a complaint should have been filed a long time ago. I see they had XM on older models, so why change it now? Crazy!

Could it be they actually just don't know? Maybe they aren't being deceptive on purpose. Of course the goal is to make a sale and they will often say whatever they think will make you buy. It is the buyers job to make sure the car has what they need/want before they sign the papers.
