got an offer for a 2015 cx-5 touring with 120k for about $10k.
the carfax came out clean, regular oil changes, no accidents.

is 120k too many miles ??
what is the average lifespan before transmission or engine needs to be replaced?
what should i look for when inspecting the vehicle?

 

Our 2016 GT has 118K of trouble free miles. Still drives and handles well. No squeeks or rattles. I change the oil every 5K miles. I have had to replace the brakes, battery and other normal maintenance items.That's it. . We've been very happy with this car and have no plans to trade it in at this time. We also have a 2019 Mazda 3 hatch. It only has 3K miles. I'm hoping for the same reliability there too.

 

It sounds like the car has been well maintained. If you continue that you should be able to get many more miles without problem. I've had two cars with over 250,000 miles on them that worked fine. They both fell victim to accidents, not mechanical problems. I got rear ended with one, my son put the other into a tree. I've forgiven him. I think. One item open for debate is changing transmission fluid, if you want to maximize the life of the transmission I would recommend getting that done. Others may correct me, but if it was my car......
