Is it possible to change the instrument cluster on a 2024 CX-5 from Japan so that the language is English and the speedometer reads in MPH?

The digital display is a Type A on the owners manual.

As for your 2024, generally speaking you can't change a Japan market display to English without a system change.
The dealer could tell you if it is possible without a change.
Or you could try using settings in the Infotainment screen but without knowing how to read Japanese it would be difficult to change settings even if you can.
You need to go to SETTINGS (gear icon) - SYSTEM - LANGUAGE
Should you try that route here are some pointers English - Japanese
SYSTEM = システム
LANGUAGE = 言語
ENGLISH = 英語
If you can get in and select those a conformation message will appear (not exactly sure what it will say) but select YES = はい

In some countries, you can change the speed units between km/h and mph by pressing the dashboard illumination ****, the speed units in the instrument cluster will change. It works for my 2020 but not sure if this works for the 2024 Japan market models.

Unfortunately nothing works on my 2024 model to change the Speedo so I think the only way would be to have a system change done.

 

A system change is possible.
Depending on what you have it can be done by software or hardware or a combination of both.
Best to check with your dealer and find out what is needed and the price.
There are companies online that offer assorted "kits" to do this but I'm not familiar with them or their products.
