I’d like to install hood struts on my 2022 PP. However, it has large soft pads covering the brackets along the engine bay where the struts would attach. Has anyone installed struts in this situation? Or has any advice?

 

I know others have installed hood struts, but I never bothered since there have been cases where the hoods on people's cars have flexed and got bent. Besides, I'm not under the hood that much lmao.

 

This does not and will not happen with REDLINE strut kits as they are the designer and have specific engineered struts manufactured that are vastly unlike most all others offered retail.
You might also not be aware but most all Mazda actually have mounts for a hood strut instead of a bar. Can you say cost cutting the line? HA!

Highly recommend Redline as well. I have had them on mine for a couple of years and they work just like other OEM struts I had on other cars. Mazda really should step up and offer them as standard with the aspirations they have to be at a higher level. They would cost a few bucks per car to add.

I installed the Redline struts shortly after I bought my 2023 CX-5. Quality product, easy to install, no drilling (at least on my car) and they work great.
