Extended Warranty Question
The extended warranty on my wife's 2016 CX-5 expired about 15K miles ago. It was third party from the dealer (different state) we originally bought the vehicle from. We intend to keep the vehicle for a few years and I'm deciding whether I should get another warranty or not. If so, what companies have you gone with...reasonable cost and easy to deal with when needed?
There are a few threads (or more) started as well several dozen or into the hundreds of responses on this subject material. You may want to take a little more time to look around the forum. Use the search feature of this forum to find them.
I personally don't see a reason to. Those "extended" warranties always have to fall into very specific issues, which even then may get rejected by the third party provider. These cars are great in reliability, and expense wise only a catastrophic failure would be something a warranty could *potentially* save you from. Otherwise you would be better off just paying out of pocket for the overall maintainence. That's my opinion at least...
2016 cx5
Averaged based on California service information
cost new engine $6200.00
cost new transmission $4200.00
cost warranty used engine $2700-4200.00
cost warranties used transmission $2600.00- 3300.00
Average minor service repair $350-$1250
Electrical issues diagnostic and service repair $275.00 3300.00
I could go on but I think this gives a little idea to consider having to do with service insurance ?

The cost of an extended warranty in the USA is $1500 to $4000 a year.
And yes, you do get what you pay for.
Personally, I would invest that much money in some type of interest collecting fund, because I'm not a gambler.
I would also point out in some areas of the USA you can currently purchase or lease a new vehicle for as low as $129 a month.
