Idecided to Replaced Battery Today with a Walmart Everstart Maxx, Group 35, 640 CCA,. $139.84
After removing cables & hold down clamp, I removed insulation sleeve, made it easier to lift battery up and out. I also used a 14" battery strap (Bought on Amazon) to lift battery out. Otherwise, very hard to grasp battery.
Wire brushed posts, applied dielectric grease and reinstalled everything. Vehicle started, no problems, previous settings appear to be saved.

Funny how we get so many members that will post the "EXACT" questions on other Mazda forums. It is almost like they want to find and read the answer they believe is the correct one.

I like to get as many opinions & as much info.as possible from knowledgeable forum members such as yourself before I make any changes to my beloved CX5.
I have had several batteries die while on the road, mostly at the 2 yr. mark ( not Mazda's) so I like to stay ahead of problems if possible.
Here in So. Florida, the constant heat seems to eat batteries faster than other areas.
Yeah, that is me.

I can tell you that most of their posted information is DIY. In other words, opinions not so much empirical information or accurate factory service procedures and information. BIG difference!
Here you get a factory trained Mazda Automotive technician and a ASE Master Technician to help members. .
I know of very few that can care for a battery the way i do and yet I am on my 3rd battery in little over 4 years. Not all Mazda's fault however I found several of the issues causing them and they were not all battery related. Some were MAZDA and the way they designed the harness on most all Mazda even yours that needs attention to help the electrical system perform with improvement. ,
One thing about Florida and the claim of eating batteries.... I have dozens of customers also my business pardoner (automotive related) lives in FLA, and NO batteries don't prematurely go bad because of living there. LOL

Keep in mind on any forum ::

The question is not exactly an opinion by the end user. The K&N drop in filter completely fits replacing the stock /OEM or even aftermarket replacement air filters. The cleaning is straight forward and easy. So it becomes a lifetime filter.
There is nothing that can go wrong or wear out EVER with them if the use and service instruction are followed

6 years from the factory installed Panasonic battery with many very cold Colorado morning starts. Not bad. I probably should have looked for exact like replacement if still available. Let's see how long this Costco Interstate holds up.
Interstate batteries are very good but currently they do use recycled material and the fail rate is about 4-6 year in newer low milage daily drivers and motorhome or recreational vehicles about 1-3 years, commercial maybe 3 years. These are all average.
I should mention that more often than not when owners replace their batteries the state of battery was already in decline for months. So empirically speaking about how long a battery last IMHO based on experence you minus at least 1 year.
Batteries should be part of a service schedule that is checked at least 2 times a year, just before winter and just before summer.
More often is better and can also save the life of other electrical components.
