Unhappy Display doesn't automatically switch between "Day" and "Night" mode!

OK, maybe there is a simple setting that I have not set or something but last night I went out at night for the first time and wondered why the display/Nav was so bright. I stopped and checked the settings and it was in "Auto". Manual says in that mode, it will switch between day and night mode automatically, independent of headlights. After 5 minutes of tweaking, I gave up and set it to "Night" mode. This morning I couldn't see anything and had to set it manually to "Day" mode

Anyone else with this problem? If this is a problem it is unacceptable. Come on Mazda, my FREE Waze iPhone app changes automatically. Please help.

RESOLVED ~ Turns out it was a simple setup. I had turned the dashboard illumination to the max. I needed to turn it down a little.
