The issues with the vehicle are apparently known, however the big issue here is with the cross over. As far as I am aware Australia doesn't have imported cx5s. Where as NZ does. Grey imports as they are known are generally cheaper as they are imported to the county from other means. Basically when you buy a nz new vehicle the manufacturer gets a bit of money and they put that into their bank account so they can pay for things like recalls and out of warranty repairs. When you buy a Grey import the manufacturer gets nothing so would be less willing to offer support, basically because the vehicle is being sold out of the designated area. It is hard and yes it is poos. But asking Mazda nz to pay for repairs on a vehicle they did not bring into or give approval for it to be brought into nz is worth a shot but will get you nowhere. There is a reason these cars are cheaper. This goes for most the manufacturers around, it doesn't make them any tighter than the person buying them. Pretty much best ever advice is get out of the car as quickly as you can and never get another one, petrol ones are phenomenal, but for how long?
Have owned a mazda diesel cx5 new for nearly one year and already alot of problems. Brought it from motor co manukau, tried to go back to motor co manukau and they have vanished, website aswell. Dpf light came on 3 months after I've just brought it. Took it to south Auckland motors (manukau) $600 later on dpf cleaning & 2 days after getting it out dpf light comes back on. Then now south auckland motors says it's the fuel injector. I've done some research and seen a lot of people having the same issues with mazda cx5 diesel. Recall in Australia, I'm in New Zealand, why dosent that apply for us too? Can anyone give me more information on what I can do please. Got quote that new engines can cost $15000.The heck! Mazda south Auckland motors has all these cx5s parked up, makes u wonder
From what I've read, Mazda NZ has been pretty poor on their acknowledgement of the issues with this engine, let alone accepting blame and offering assistance.
If you have a Jap import forget about contacting Mazda NZ.
please can anyone advise? I need to replace EGR Valve on my Mazda CX5 2.2D 2016 but there's nowhere to be seen to get it. Is possible to fit EGR Valve from some other types of Mazda? Can anyone recommend where to get (online) GR Valve please? Im desperate. TIA

Yes & no. Same physical engine, but a revised head gasket & revised injector seals. These were the two main culprits.
Also, for peace of mind, which you will need to pay for, ask them to replace the plastic water pipe under the manifold with the superseded steel pipe ( common failure ) and also replace the radiator cap.

Hi all
After having had a night, mare with a VW Golf TDi having spent $5k on issues with the engine and then having to sell it auction (at way under mkt value), I decided to buy a 170k one owner full main dealer service history 2012 CX-5 diesel. I wish I had seen this forum first!
WE've now doen 10k in it. We had one minor issues with the alternator belt snapping, which I wasn't bothered about, but just now, had to take the car in to our local garage and they have identified that the plastic coolant pipe (which the item above would replace) is broken. I have been quoted $1500 and they cannot do it for a month as their main mechanic is away on hols.
Does anyone lese have any experience of getting these replaced by Mazda? If so was it covered by them for using poor / inappropriate materials? If not, how much did it cost to replace?
My wife has already given up with it and wants rid, and to be honest after all our recent turbo diesel car dramas, I don't blame her....
Thanks

Reason: spelling
Apparently they fixed the issues on later CX-5s, if not the newer KF series.
Hello! I wonder if it's possible to somehow detect/diagnose injector washers problem early on. Maybe smoke from opened oil cap, or some typical noise... Do you think it's possible without injector removal?
Not that I'm aware of, unless you take oil samples for testing.
Thanks!
If i open oil cap while engine running, i see small smoke cloud, which disappears almost instantly (3-5 sec). Is it normal? (smoke under cam cover)
